A few seeds, a handful of dedicated volunteers, a little water, and the miracle of nature is the recipe for another successful community garden.
It’s hard to believe we started this garden 6 years ago with two tiny beds donating a few pounds of fresh vegetables to local organizations. We’ve grown to 8 beds and this year, we have donated over 60 pounds of fresh vegetables to the Kerr Street Missions and the Fair Share food banks.
For the last two years, our volunteer community garden coordinator Cherry, and our resident green thumb caretaker Samer have worked with a few, very dedicated volunteers, to make sure our plants are watered and weeded. Sometimes it’s hard to believe these empty gardens can produce such a magnificent bounty. And this year is no exception.
